The first couples-only all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Sun Palace is located on the very south end of the Hotel Zone. While Cancun’s nightlife is a little farther away and the beach is slightly narrower than it is in most of the Hotel Zone, Sun Palace’s immediate vicinity is less built-up; so the atmosphere at the resort is generally much more quiet and relaxed, especially since children aren’t allowed. Overall, it’s one of Cancun’s best luxury options for couples and honeymooners, and feels more luxurious than a typical 4-star hotel. Dining variety is just so-so for an all-inclusive (there are four restaurants), on-site activities are somewhat limited, and the vibe here may be too quiet for some couples; but the property offers a commendable staff, an excellent beach with bright white sand and beach volleyball, three beautiful infinity pools overlooking the shore (one has a swim-up bar), very high quality food for an all-inclusive, a good spa with hydrotherapy and body wraps, and an excellent fitness center with plenty of equipment and spin bikes. Rooms come with private balconies, double jacuzzi tubs, minibars with premium liquor, large flat-screen TVs, CHI hair products, and red wine upon arrival. Activities include nightly entertainment (including fire shows and karaoke shows), water aerobics, paddleboard yoga, romantic dinners on the beach, and wine tasting with the resort sommelier. Water sports are available in the general area but not on-site.
Departure COVID-19 antigen (rapid) testing is available on-site at no cost to guests (for up to two guests per room staying a minimum of three nights) traveling to the United States. Additional tests can be purchased for $19 USD. Results are received within 30 minutes. In the event of a positive test, guests can extend their stay at no additional charge for up to 14 days.
