The most economical section of the massive Atlantis Paradise Island resort complex, The Beach at Atlantis is set off to the side; it’s less crowded and a little farther from the middle of the action than the other sections, which include The Coral (A1), The Royal (A1), The Cove (Aa1), and The Reef (Aa2). The rooms at The Beach are more basic and dated than those in the other sections and don’t include room service, but they’re closest to the best beach area and have the lowest rates (the TripValue of this section is +5, which is exceptional). The greater Atlantis complex offers a plethora of highly unique amenities, including the world’s largest open-air marine habitat with over 250 marine species, a 141-acre water park called Aquaventure with the best waterslides in the Caribbean (including the iconic Mayan Temple’s Leap of Faith slide, the Serpent tube slide that goes through a shark habitat, and a river ride with rapids and waves), 11 exceptional swimming pools with waterfalls and features for both kids and adults, a lazy river, a spa with warm and cold plunge pools and steam and sauna rooms, a world class casino with 85 gaming tables and 700 slot machines, 21 restaurants with casual and fine dining plus 19 bars and lounges, an on-site movie theater, a nightclub, and a comedy club. The 10,000-square-foot fitness center has personal trainers, spin and yoga classes, locker rooms, and a lap pool. Other activities include top-notch live music and entertainment, a sea turtle release program, yacht and fishing charters, pottery classes, tennis (six courts), impressive on-site shopping, jet skiing, and excellent snorkeling and scuba diving. The Tom Weiskopf-designed Ocean Club Golf Course down the street is one of the Caribbean’s top courses; it features alluring ocean vistas, numerous water hazards, challenging crosswinds, and an impressive seven holes that border the beach. The resort is not all-inclusive, but dining plans that include breakfast and dinner at some of the restaurants are available.
