The most upscale section of the lively Grand Oasis resort complex in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, The Pyramid (it’s actually pyramid-shaped) caters well to singles and couples. The main advantage of the Pyramid section is its higher quality rooms; newly renovated, they come with a good amount of space, marble floors, and large flat-screen TVs. Some also have balconies with jacuzzis. The greater Grand Oasis complex is known for its plethora of entertainment and big-time party scene, both during Spring Break in March and April and throughout the year. The party atmosphere may not be for everyone, the grounds can be quite crowded at peak times of year, and the on-site restaurants vary in quality (the Brazilian steakhouse Bahia Rodizzio often gets the best reviews); but the resort offers an excellent white-sand beach, top-notch dining variety, the only on-site casino in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, a par-3 golf course (9 holes), DJs and live music, resident iguanas and peacocks, and an enormous swimming pool that winds its way through the property with three swim-up bars. The heart of Cancun isn’t far, but there’s plenty of on-site nightlife, too, with options ranging from a hookah bar to various nightclubs to cabaret burlesque shows. The strong pool and beach areas here help the Overall Beach Resort Rating significantly. Activities include Pilates and yoga classes, beach volleyball, spin classes, Zumba classes, beach soccer, and beach and foam parties. Aquaworld is within walking distance; the impressive selection of water sports there includes excellent scuba diving, parasailing, snorkeling with whale sharks and other marine life, Flowrider surfing, jet skiing, jet boat rides, deep sea fishing, Flyboarding, jungle boat tours, day trips to Isla Mujeres, and more. Jet skiing is also available right on the Grand Oasis beach. The other two sections of the complex are the Oasis Cancun Lite (Ba1) and The Grand Oasis Cancun (Baa1); both have lower rates but lesser rooms.
Complimentary on-site COVID-19 antigen tests are available prior to departure for guests traveling to the United States (minimum three-night stay required for eligibility).
