Surrounded by Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses on 22 acres of the exclusive Punta Mita peninsula, this secluded, luxurious St. Regis resort caters to more than just avid golfers; exemplary in just about every category, it’s a great option for both couples and families. It boasts an outstanding spa, quality beachside and poolside loungers and day beds, impeccable restaurant quality, and strong cuisine variety (Carolina, the signature restaurant, is particularly upscale, but all six dining options are very good). The beach, while quiet and private, is not outstanding (this is the main factor keeping the Overall Beach Resort Rating below Aaa); but it’s better than most in the greater Puerto Vallarta area. The property’s three beautiful swimming pools (with adult and kids areas), however, are first-class. The service, while very strong overall, receives slightly mixed reviews, which is somewhat uncommon for a resort of this caliber. Rooms come with excellent butler service, rustic Mexican charm (all have Mexican art and hand-crafted items plus natural elements such as river stone, marble, onyx, wood, and clay), stocked minibars, 100% Egyptian cotton linens, large flat-screen TVs, walk-in closets, outdoor spaces, and Remède bath amenities; beachfront villas with plunge pools and up to three bedrooms are also available. Other resort highlights include complimentary margaritas upon check-in, La Tortuga Children’s Club for ages 5-12, and unique resort traditions called “rituals” (such as the Champagne Sabering Ritual, the Tea Ritual, the Bloody Mary Ritual, and the Catch of the Day Ritual – where guests can choose their lunch or dinner right off the boat).
Complimentary COVID-19 testing for U.S. re-entry is available on-site (complimentary antigen tests are provided for two guests per room staying three consecutive nights or longer). Additional tests can be purchased for a fee, pending availability.
