Resort Profile

One of Cozumel’s newest (opened 2017) and most tranquil properties, The Westin Cozumel caters to a mix of couples and families, especially couples interested in golf and scuba diving. There are only two on-site restaurants, the beach is rocky and disappointing (and small, even for Cozumel; this factor has a strong negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, lowering it from the middle A range to the upper B range), the fitness center is subpar for the brand (Westin fitness centers are usually well above average), and there’s no swim-up bar; but the resort offers an impressive rooftop sun deck and pool with stellar ocean views, a modern main swimming pool area with plush lounge chairs, a good kids club, an excellent spa with couples massages and air conditioned cabins with ocean views, and good on-site restaurants (even if variety is lacking). The rooms are contemporary, with minimalist décor and sleek bathrooms; the Deluxe rooms have exceptionally large balconies with jacuzzis and the Cabana accommodations are villa-like, with screened porches and plunge pools. The impressive Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course next door, the Cozumel Country Club, is the only course on the island. Other activities include bird watching tours at the golf course, top-notch scuba diving (the outstanding Palancar Reef, the second-largest reef in the world, is nearby), and great snorkeling. La Cabana del Pescador is a recommended off-site restaurant for lobster and other seafood; it’s just across the street.

On-site COVID-19 testing is available for a fee. The resort can also connect guests with local providers.
