This Westin property near Puerto Vallarta’s airport caters well to both families and couples with optional all-inclusive plans; it’s also within walking distance of Marina Vallarta, where there’s a plethora of shops, restaurants, and water sports. The beach fails to impress (it’s small and the water has unsightly jetties; this factor has a strong negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, downgrading it from the lower A range to the middle B range) and there are extra fees for the kids club and Wi-Fi; but the resort offers two expansive lagoon-style swimming pools (one has a swim-up bar), above average restaurants with healthy menu options, an impressive spa with a varied treatment menu, three outdoor lighted tennis courts, suites with beautiful outdoor areas and jetted tubs, and quality standard rooms (especially for the price – the resort’s TripValue is +3, which is robust). Other highlights include wooden pergolas for rent on the beach and alluring outdoor evening lounge and dining areas; Arrecifes Restaurant’s outdoor patio boasts incredible sunset views. As is the case at most Westin hotels, the fitness center here is excellent; perks include a sauna, a steam room, locker rooms, yoga classes, and spin bikes. The resort is also pet-friendly, which is fairly rare. Rooms come with warm wood accents and earth tones, ceiling fans, comfortable beds with cotton linens, flat-screen TVs, and bathrooms with marble vanities and soaking tubs. Water sports at Marina Vallarta across the street include deep sea fishing, sailing, whale watching, and scuba diving, among others.
Complimentary COVID-19 testing for U.S. re-entry is available on-site (complimentary antigen tests are provided for two guests per room staying three consecutive nights or longer).
