An adults-only, all-inclusive resort with one of the largest swimming pools in Mexico and an excellent white-sand beach with a hidden feel, Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya caters well to couples, and is a good overall value. It’s located north of Playa del Carmen in a secluded area known as Playa del Secreto (The Secret Beach), and boasts an above average number of repeat guests. Prime lounge chairs can be difficult to reserve at peak times of year, the rooms and fitness center are slightly dated (but fine overall), and groups of more than six will be seated at separate tables at the restaurants; but the property offers top-notch dining variety (eight restaurants and 11 bars, including two swim-up bars), a theater with live shows, a sports bar with billiards and music, two tennis courts and a basketball court, a lazy river with swim-up rooms, and a spa. The exceptionally strong beach and pool areas here help the Overall Beach Resort Rating a good amount, upgrading it to the upper A range. Activities include yoga classes on the beach, tequila and wine tastings, Latin dance classes, pool parties, snorkeling, jet skiing, kayaking, and excursions to nearby Mayan ruins. Guests staying five or more nights qualify for a complimentary airport transfer.
