One of the most affordable options in San Juan, the Verdanza Hotel caters well to families on a budget. The beach is across the road and not visible from the grounds (this factor has a strong negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, lowering it from the middle B range to the upper C range), there’s no swim-up bar or spa, the service gets mixed to poor reviews, and airplane noise can be noticeable; but the property offers a rooftop fitness center, a convenient location near the San Juan airport, a central swimming pool with a small splash park for kids, and a pet-friendly policy. On-site dining options include a burger bar, a wine and tapas bar, and a main restaurant serving breakfast and Caribbean cuisine for lunch and dinner. There’s also a great coffee shop on-site. The rooms are basic and dated, but fairly appropriate for the price; they come with mini-fridges, coffeemakers, desks, and flat-screen TVs. Water sports are available nearby, but on-site activities are very limited. However, a good selection of off-site shops and restaurants is available within walking distance.
As Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States, the CDC COVID-19 testing requirement for U.S. travelers re-entering the U.S. from international destinations does not apply.
