Perched on a particularly exceptional stretch of the powder-white sand of Grace Bay Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, the tranquil Wymara Resort and Villas (formerly Gansevoort Turks & Caicos) is undoubtedly one of the very best resorts in the entire Mexico/Caribbean region. Boasting a Aaa Overall Beach Resort Rating, the impeccable resort caters especially well to couples, but welcomes families with children as well. Rates can be quite high (even by pricey Turks & Caicos standards), the fitness center is only mediocre, and not all rooms have balconies (which is somewhat uncommon for a resort of this caliber); but the upscale property offers a top-notch staff, a 7,000-square-foot infinity pool with a South Beach vibe, an award-winning Asian Fusion restaurant (“Stelle”) with a full (and complimentary) breakfast buffet, day beds on the beach that come with fruit platters and bottles of chilled rosé, free bikes, and an excellent spa with Eminence Organic products and couples treatments. Rooms come with electric blackout blinds, chic furnishings, state-of-the-art bathrooms with separate spa tubs and glass-encased rain showers, luxurious Frette bedding and towels, twice-daily maid service, Bose iPod docking stereos, and floor-to-ceiling windows; all have ocean views and some have kitchens, wraparound terraces, and outdoor jacuzzis. There are 91 rooms total, including 32 suites and four penthouses. Luxurious four- and five-bedroom villas are also available for larger groups. Activities include yoga classes (both Power Yoga and Vinyasa Flow), Pilates and HIIT classes, weekly DJ sets, kayaking, Hobie Cat sailing, and private boating charters (half-day and full-day are offered) with snorkeling and island sightseeing. Scuba diving, jet skiing, parasailing, deep sea fishing, and horseback riding are also available in the area.
