Actually located just south of Cancun on the way to Puerto Morelos (and not in Cancun itself), “The Grand” is the even more upscale section of the sprawling Moon Palace Cancun luxury megaresort, which caters very well to families. The beach is somewhat below average by Cancun standards, with a propensity for seaweed and murky water (this has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating) and golf carts are required to get around; but the property offers superior kids and teens clubs, a highly unique Flowrider machine, a full-scale water park with large waterslides (located right in The Grand section), a 27-hole golf course (one of just two Jack Nicklaus Signature courses in the Cancun area), a massive 39-treatment room spa, over 20 restaurants and bars with good food and drinks for an all-inclusive, very high quality accommodations, and outstanding on-site nightlife and nightly entertainment – including the resort’s signature Mexican Fire Show. The greater resort is divided into three sections (Sunrise, Nizuc, and The Grand); the Sunrise section is the largest and liveliest, the Nizuc section is second largest and a little more relaxed, and The Grand is the most laid-back and upscale, making it the best section for couples. Departure COVID-19 antigen (rapid) testing is available on-site at no cost to guests (for up to two guests per room staying a minimum of three nights) traveling to the United States. Additional tests can be purchased for $19 USD. Results are received within 30 minutes. In the event of a positive test, guests can extend their stay at no additional charge for up to 14 days.
