The sole adults-only beach resort on the island of Cozumel, the luxurious Secrets Aura Cozumel caters well to couples, especially scuba diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. The beach is on the narrow side (it’s still one of Cozumel’s best, however), timeshare sales pitches can annoy, and the spa and fitness facilities are located at the sister property next door; but the resort offers great restaurants for an all-inclusive with strong dining variety, four swimming pools (two with swim-up bars and one with a waterslide), quality tennis courts, and a fairly social atmosphere. All accommodations are upscale suites with private terraces or balconies, full bathrooms with whirlpools, and complimentary mini-bars; some have swim-up access. The best suites are the Preferred Club suites; upgrading to this level comes with extra perks such as access to an exclusive lounge and pool area, upgraded mini-bar and bath amenities, personalized check-in and check-out, and special concierge service. Activities include world class scuba diving and snorkeling (Palancar Reef, the world’s second-largest, is just offshore), sailing, aqua aerobics, yoga classes, live music, theme nights and beach parties, foam parties, paddleboarding, and other non-motorized water sports. Guests have access to the restaurants and other amenities of Sunscape Sabor Cozumel, the kid-friendly sister property next door with much lower rates.
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are provided on-site for guests traveling back to the United States. Test results will be received the same day in a format consistent with government requirements. A minimum 3-night stay is required to qualify. Should a guest test positive, the guest and one other are eligible to stay at the resort free of charge for up to 14 days.
